The Concept

Design your own itinerary to Sydney with an Arts, History or Environment theme, or follow our suggested program below. Designed around Australian Curriculum requirements, students will spend 4 nights in school-approved accommodation, and explore the unique history and culture of Australia’s busiest city. 

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1 SCHOOL – SYDNEY (D)

After an early morning departure, travel the Hume Highway route to Sydney with brief stops along the way. Early evening arrival for four nights accommodation.

DAY 2 SYDNEY (B, L)

Your program today might include:

Captain Cook Harbour Cruise - one of the best ways to experience Sydney Harbour.
Pylon Lookout at Sydney Harbour Bridge where you can get a great view of Sydney and the Harbour.
Harbour Bridge Walk - take the pedestrian path over the harbor bridge, taking in the sights of Sydney.
-Manly - drive across to Manly beach and enjoy a Fish n Chip dinner (own expense).
Manly Quarantine Station - Evening ghost tour (2 hour) of the Manly Quarantine Station - located at North Head, where for 150 years immigrants to Australia were quarantined

DAY 3 SYDNEY (B, L, D)

Your program could include such activities as:

The Power House Museum - has constantly changing exhibitions, educational programs and a technology special effects exhibition - a fascinating and intriguing place for all ages.
Madame Tussauds – Take a walk through Madame Tussauds and come face to face with the world’s most iconic people.

Some free time this afternoon to explore Darling Harbour, take a tour of the Opera House (at additional cost) or do the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk.

DAY 4 SYDNEY (B, L, D)

Activities today might include:

Blue Mountains - Begin your visit at to the Echo Point Information Centre. From the lookout enjoy the views of the Jamison Valley and the Three Sisters. From there continue on to Scenic World and ride the Scenic Railway through ancient rainforests. The Scenic Railway is the world’s steepest incline railway and takes you to the rainforest boardwalk, connecting to the Cableway platform. Next ride the Cableway, the steepest aerial cable car in Australia to see more of the World Heritage listed rainforests. Some time to visit Katoomba before returning to Sydney.

DAY 5 SYDNEY – SCHOOL (B, L)

Up early for your trip home, with arrival early evening.

Sydney Aquarium

Sydney Aquarium is one of the city’s most popular school excursion venues. Displaying the largest and most comprehensive collection of aquatic life in Australia, it is home to over 12,000 animals representing 650 different species.

Darling Harbour Options

Add on a visit to one or more of the attractions developed following the reclamation of the old docks around Darling Harbour, including the IMAX Theatre to see a spectacular multi-level film, or the Chinese Garden of Friendship that recreates a traditional Chinese garden.

Sydney Wildlife World

Housing the largest variety of Australia’s unique and bizarre plants and animals in the world. With over 130 species of Australian animals all under one roof, it provides an amazing, educational and entertaining experience, and is conveniently located in the heart of the city at Darling Harbour.

Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo Education aims to engage and positively influence attitudes to wildlife, encouraging positive behaviour towards protecting the environment and animals. The education team provides quality learning experiences and unique wildlife encounters through curriculum based programs, workshops and indigenous education programs.

Chinatown and Paddy’s Market

Visit the Haymarket area and one or more of Sydney’s unique precincts including the centre of Chinese community life in the city, and Australia’s original market.

Historic Rocks

Guided walking tour of the historic “old-town” of Sydney.

Oceanworld

For a fabulous learning experience, we recommend Oceanworld Manly, where you can enjoy a fun, interactive educational opportunity. What better way to inspire your wonder and curiosity, than by diving into the colourful world of marine animals, or by coming face to face with snakes and crocodiles!

Fort Denison

Includes a ferry ride to this famous fort, built in the 19th century to protect Sydney Harbour.

Hyde Park Barracks

Experience Australia’s military establishment as it was in the days of the NSW Corp and the Rum Rebellion.

Vaucluse House, Government House

Opportunity to visit one or more of the famous Sydney properties, where many of the decisions that influenced the establishment of Australia were made.
