The Concept

This tour is designed for secondary school students to increase their knowledge of Australia’s unique environment and experience amazing geographic wonders. Students will camp and live in remote areas, gain a better understanding of Indigenous life, while improving their team bonding and leadership skills.

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1: DARWIN (D)

Arrive in Darwin, board your coach and begin your Top End adventure.

Visit Stokes Hill Wharf.

Continue on to the Royal Flying Doctors Service where you will learn about important aspects of Darwin’s history along with the journey of the RFDS from the beginning to where it is now.

Travel to your campground at Territory Wildlife Park for the evening and dinner.

DAY 2: DARWIN - KAKADU (B, L, D)

After an early breakfast spend the morning getting a closer look at the animals indigenous to the area at the Territory Wildlife Park.

After lunch its off to Adelaide River to board the Jumping Crocodiles Cruise.

Travel in to Kakadu National Park to your accommodation for the next 5 nights.

DAYS 3 - 5: KAKADU (B, L, D)

The next 3 days are focused on your Community Service Projects where you will be actively building an orchard and food garden to help create a cheaper, healthier way of living which will continue to give season after season.

One afternoon it will be tools down to head to the East Alligator River for an Indigenous guided Guluyambi Cultural Cruise, learning aspects of Indigenous lifestyle, history and the art of spear throwing.

Another evening will be spent walking the incredible rock art site of Ubirr, finishing with a sunset over the floodplains.

DAY 6: KAKADU - KURNAMARR (B, L, D)

Following breakfast we learn through the Gunbim (rock art) at the ancient occupational site of Burrunkuy, learning stories of the Dreamtime Ancestors and how they affect the earth still to this day.

Climb to the lookout at Nawurlandja to get an overall view of the surrounding area - 1.8-billion-year-old rock outliers, billabongs and savanna woodland.

Head to the Warridjan (pig nose turtle) Culture Centre for some more visual learning.

This afternoon you will make your way to Kurnamarr where you will camp for the next 2 nights.

DAY 7: KURNAMARR (B, L, D)

After an early breakfast you will start your day with a somewhat challenging but rewarding hike up to the top of Jim Jim Falls. One hour in you will see stunning views and beautiful swimming holes to relax. On your way down, stop for lunch before heading to the bottom part of the Falls to the magnificent views of the walls surrounding the Falls. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the sandy beach and waterhole.

DAY 8: KURNAMARR - KATHERINE (B, L, D)

Following breakfast you will leave Kurnarmarr and head to Gunlom to hike up the top to swim in the infinity pool at Gunlom Falls.

Continue on to Katherine, stopping at the old gold mining town of Pine Creek on the way.

DAY 9: KATHERINE (B, L, D)

Following breakfast visit Katherine Gorge and take a short but steep climb up to the Burruwei Lookout.

Visit Top Didge to learn first-hand from the Dalabon clan from southwest Arnhem Land and engage in art work.

End the day by the fire at your campsite.

DAY 10: KATHERINE - LITCHFIELD NATIONAL PARK (B, L, D)

Following breakfast start the short trip to Elsie National Park which includes the thermal springs in Mataranka and Bitter Springs.

After lunch travel on to your camp in Litchfield, stopping off at Edith Falls for a dip on the way.

DAY 11: KAKADU - DARWIN (B, L)

Big day today for your final day of adventure. Visit some 80-year-old castles in the floodplains of Litchfield National Park, the famous Cathedral termite mounds, towering 6-7 metres high.

Time to head back to Darwin airport for your return flight home.
