The Concept

Sydney offers a hub for those interested in studying Visual and Performing Arts. Students will benefit greatly from immersive experiences at Belvoir Theatre workshops/performances, bespoke curriculum activities at the AIPA or dance education programs. Visual Arts students will expand their knowledge and appreciation for art with visits to art galleries and art workshops.

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1 SYDNEY (D)

Fly into Sydney and catch public transport to your accommodation.

This afternoon you might like to visit:

Art Gallery of NSW, The Domain, Sydney (allow 3 hours)
Be inspired by their extensive collection of modern and contemporary works, as well as viewing the distinguished collection of colonial and 19th century Australian works and European old masters. There are also galleries dedicated to celebrating the arts of Asia and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art. Featuring an ever-changing program of exhibitions year round.

Artspace, Woolloomooloo (allow 1 hour)
Artspace is a hub for the production and presentation of visual arts. Students will learn about how artists collaborate, facilitate and exhibit their work, as well as ways in which artists can test their ideas and different approaches in a cooperative environment.

Sydney Opera House (allow 1 hour)
Considered to be one of the major architectural achievements of the world, this is a great opportunity to view this magnificent building from a ground perspective. Take your time to walk around and take some photos. (Guided tours and backstage access tours are also available at an additional cost).

DAY 2 SYDNEY (B,D)

Following breakfast, begin your day with activities from the the following visual or performing arts programs:

The Museum of Contemporary Art, The Rocks (allow 3 hours)
Australia’s leading museum dedicated to exhibiting, interpreting and collecting contemporary art from across Australia and around the world. Enjoy the constantly changing exhibitions, educational programs and the technology special effects exhibition.

NIDA workshop

Powerhouse Museum, Ultimo (allow 2 hours)
The Powerhouse Museum is the major branch of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences in Sydney. With a strong focus on creativity and curiosity, a range of 12 permanent exhibitions at the Powerhouse is complemented by a changing program of temporary exhibitions and displays. There are regular tours and demonstrations, performances, workshops, forums and other special events held throughout the Museum.

Brett Whiteley Studio, Surry Hills (allow 1 ½ hours)
Brett Whiteley’s workplace, home and studio in the inner city suburb of Surry hills is now a gallery and studio museum. Participate in a 60/90/120 minute case-study discussion. Life drawing classes also available.

DAY 3 SYDNEY (B)

Following breakfast, take part in your final workshop and gallery tour, then catch public transport back to your accommodation to pick up your bags, before heading to the airport by train for your flight home.
