The Concept

Experience the great cities of Shanghai and Beijing, the spectacular province of Chengdu and the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on this 10-day tour.

Students will increase their understanding of and respect for Chinese history and culture in an integrated learning environment.

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1: AUSTRALIA – SHANGHAI

Depart Australia on your flight to Shanghai. On arrival transfer to your accommodation and enjoy a welcome snack.

DAY 2: SHANGHAI (BLD)

Experience exotic and cosmopolitan Shanghai. Walk along The Bund with its famous European architecture, browse through the Shanghai Museum of Art and History, and enjoy a cruise on the river. This evening witness an amazing acrobatic show.

DAY 3: SHANGHAI – CHENGDU (BD)

Check out of your accommodation and transfer to the airport for your flight to Chengdu. On arrival meet your English speaking guide and transfer to your accommodation. After check in commence your guided tour of Chengdu.

DAY 4: CHENGDU (BLD)

Meet your guide at your accommodation for your trip to Bifengxia to see the Pandas. Chengdu has established a world renowned breeding and research base for giant pandas, which attracts almost 100,000 visitors each year. Return to your accommodation.

DAY 5: CHENGDU – XIAN (BLD)

Check out of your accommodation. Your guide will take you to see Leshan’s giant Budda. Transfer to Chengdu airport for your flight to Xian. On arrival transfer to your accommodation.

DAY 6: XIAN – BEIJING (BLD)

Check out of your accommodation, meet your guide and board your private coach to visit Xian’s Terracotta Warriors and Horses, sculpted to guard Emperor Qin upon his death. Enjoy lunch nearby then return to town to visit the impressive Xian City Wall. Your guide will then escort you to the airport for your flight to Beijing. On arrival meet your local guide and transfer to your accommodation.

DAY 7: BEIJING (BLD)

Set out to explore Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, the centre of the world for the Chinese during the 24 Ming and Qing dynasties. Wander through the pavilions, palaces and courtyards of the Imperial Palace (the emperors rarely emerged from behind the red walls of their 72 hectare home). Enjoy lunch at one of our favourite Beijing restaurants. Take a Hutong Rickshaw tour before returning to your accommodation. Tonight’s dinner is a Beijing specialty - Peking duck.

DAY 8: BEIJING (BLD)

Visit the Summer Palace where you will see the ornamental gardens, lake and characteristic pavilions. Enjoy a cruise on Kunming Lake, a highlight of your time in Beijing.

DAY 9: BEIJING - GREAT WALL OF CHINA - BEIJING (BLD)

Travel to the Mutianyu Section of the 2,000 year old, 6,350km long Great Wall of China. Originally built-in sections by individual feudal states, the sections were later connected by Emperor Qin Shi Huang when he unified China. Return to your Beijing accommodation, stopping at the Olympic Stadium on the way . Tonight’s dinner includes entertainment presented by the Shaolin Monks’ Kung Fu show.

DAY 10: BEIJING- AUSTRALIA (B)

Check out of your accommodation and transfer to the Beijing airport for your flight home.
