The Concept

Schools looking to inspire and challenge students with a CLIL in Italy should look no further than this comprehensive 14-day Italian Cultural and Language tour.  Students will be able to practice first hand their language skills through accessing public transport, visiting historic site and museums, eating at local venues, etc. Language lessons in Siena, Rome, Florence and Prato. Our immersive ‘Italian School Project’ allows students to not only visit an Italian school but also actively plan a joint project prior to travel with fulfillment done in Italy at the local school.

This tour has been designed for language, art, history or catholic secondary school students, or a combination of any of these.

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1 AUSTRALIA – ROME

Depart Australia on your flight to Rome.

DAY 2 ROME (D)

Arrive Rome. On arrival you will be met by a local representative who will escort you to your coach and hand out your 3 Day Public Transport passes. Coach transfer to your accommodation on arrival. Remainder of the day at teacher’s discretion. Dinner included.

DAY 3 ROME (B, D)

After breakfast, use your public transport pass to travel to the Colosseum. Enjoy a half day guided walking tour of Ancient Rome taking in the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Free afternoon at teacher's discretion. Dinner is included this evening.

DAY 4 ROME (B, D)

Breakfast at hotel.
Travel to the Vatican by public transport.
Your day at Vatican City will begin in St. Peter’s Square. Own arrangements to visit St. Peter’s Basilica with its many treasures and masterpieces including Michelangelo’s famous Pieta.
A guided visit of the Vatican Museums will allow you to view their impressive collection, including the extraordinary ceiling of the Sistine Chapel (entrance included).
Remainder of the day at teacher’s discretion.
Dinner included.

DAY 5 ROME (B, D)

Breakfast at hotel.
Free day for sightseeing at teachers’ discretion.
Optional suggestions include a visit one of Rome’s many catacombs, or take a trip to Tivoli to visit Villa d’Este and Hadrian’s Villa. Alternatively, a full day excursion to Pompeii with a visit to the excavations can be arranged.
Dinner included.

DAY 6 ROME – ASSISI (B, D)

Breakfast at hotel followed by check out.
Meet your coach and depart Rome, travelling to Assisi in Umbria, the heart of Italy.
Explore the medieval town with its many churches and see the Basilica of St. Francis.
Dinner included.

DAY 7 ASSISI – SIENA – SAN GIMIGNANO - FLORENCE (B, D)

Depart Assisi after breakfast and travel by private coach to medieval Siena in Tuscany to explore the Duomo and the famous Piazza del Campo. Re-board your coach and continue on to the walled, hilltop town of San Gimignano and admire its beautiful medieval towers dating back to the 12th century. Proceed to Florence on your coach. Dinner included this evening.

DAY 8 FLORENCE (B, D)

Breakfast at hotel.
Enjoy a half day guided walking tour of Florence before visiting either the Accademia or the Uffizi Gallery (entrance to 1 museum included).
Free afternoon at teacher’s discretion.
Dinner included.

DAY 9 FLORENCE (B, D)

Breakfast at hotel.
After breakfast you will have the day to further explore the city and surrounds of Florence.
Suggested activities include a train journey to Pisa.
Dinner included.

DAY 10 FLORENCE – MODENA – VENICE (B, D)

Breakfast at hotel followed by check out.
Meet your coach and depart Florence for Venice.
You will stop on the way in Modena to visit the Ferrari Museum (entrance included).
On arrival at Venice Tronchetto you will be met by a local representative who will hand over your 48 h Vaporetto passes.
Make your way to the nearby accommodation and check in.
Dinner is included in Venice this evening.

DAY 11 VENICE (B, D)

Breakfast at hotel.
Use your Vaporetto pass to get to the famous Piazza San Marco.
Enjoy a guided tour of Venice (2 hours) which will introduce you to this magnificent city. Enjoy sights such as St. Mark’s Basilica, Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs.
Free afternoon at teacher’s discretion.
Suggestion: your included Vaporetto Pass will allow you to visit Murano and Burano islands in the afternoon.
Dinner included this evening.

DAY 12 VENICE – MILAN (B, D)

Breakfast at hotel followed by check out.
Make your way to Venice Tronchetto and meet your coach.
Depart Venice to Milan.
On arrival check into your accommodation (rooms may not be ready until 2.30pm).
You can spend the remainder of the day exploring this bustling, fashionable, business capital.
Optional (subject to availability), you can see the famous Cenacolo Vinciano in the Santa Maria delle Grazie church.
Dinner included.

DAY 13 MILAN – AUSTRALIA (B)

Breakfast at hotel followed by check out.
Coach transfer to the airport and check in for your flight to Australia.

DAY 14 AUSTRALIA

Arrive Australia (subject to airline schedules).

Gladiator Tour - Rome

Don’t miss this opportunity to re-create Roman history and get a hands-on look at life as a gladiator. Activities include dressing up and learning basic techniques of gladiatorial sword fighting, and a museum visit.

Sorrento–Capri–Pompeii (3 Days/2 Nights)

From Capri’s scenic coastline, to the Roman town of Pompeii, destroyed by Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79, Italy has many mesmerising sights. Includes bustling Naples, the stunning Italian coast at Sorrento, a guided tour of Pompeii, two nights accommodation and a private touring coach.

Cooking lessons

In either Rome, Florence or Siena, enjoy a lesson cooking traditional Italian fare from pizza to spaghetti.
