The Concept

Schools looking to inspire and challenge students with a CLIL in Italy should look no further than this comprehensive 14-day Italian Cultural and Language tour.  Students will be able to practice their language skills first hand through accessing public transport, visiting historic sites and museums and eating at local venues.

This tour has been designed for language, art, history or catholic secondary school students, or a combination of any of these.

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1: AUSTRALIA – ROME

Depart Australia on your flight to Rome.

DAY 2: ROME (D)

On your arrival in Rome you will be met by a local representative who will escort you to your private coach and hand out your 3-day public transport passes. Transfer to your accommodation. The remainder of the day is under the guidance of your teachers.

DAY 3: ROME (BD)

Use your public transport pass to make your way to the famous sites of Ancient Rome - enjoy a half day guided walking tour of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. The remainder of the day is under the guidance of your teachers.

DAY 4: ROME (BD)

Use your public transport pass to travel to Vatican City. Commence your guided tour of The Vatican Museum and The Sistine Chapel. Return to Rome and continue to explore under the guidance of your teachers.

DAY 5: ROME (BD)

Today is under the guidance of your teachers. You might like to visit one of Rome’s many catacombs or take a trip to Tivoli to visit Villa d’Este and Hadrian’s Villa. Alternatively, a full day excursion to Pompeii with a visit to the excavations can be arranged.

DAY 6: ROME – ASSISI (BD)

Check out of your accommodation, board your private coach and travel to Assisi in Umbria, the heart of Italy. Check in to your accommodation and explore the medieval town with its many churches and see the Basilica of St. Francis.

DAY 7: ASSISI – SIENA – SAN GIMIGNANO - FLORENCE (BD)

Check out of your accommodation, board your private coach and travel to medieval Siena in Tuscany to explore the Duomo and the famous Piazza del Campo. Continue on to the walled hilltop town of San Gimignano and admire its beautiful medieval towers dating back to the 12th century. Proceed to your Florence accommodation.

DAY 8: FLORENCE (BD)

Enjoy a half day guided walking tour of Florence before visiting either the Accademia or the Uffizi Gallery (entrance to one museum included). The remainder of the day is under the guidance of your teachers.

DAY 9: FLORENCE (BD)

Continue to explore Florence under the guidance of your teachers. You might like to catch a train to Pisa.

DAY 10: FLORENCE – MODENA – VENICE (BD)

Check out of your accommodation, board your private coach and travel to Venice. On the way stop in Modena to visit the Ferrari Museum. On your arrival at the Venice Tronchetto you will be met by a local representative who will hand over your 48 h Vaporetto passes. Make your way to the nearby accommodation and check in.

DAY 11: VENICE (BD)

Use your Vaporetto pass to get to the famous Piazza San Marco. Enjoy a guided tour of Venice which will introduce you to this magnificent city. Enjoy sites such as St Mark’s Basilica, Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. The afternoon is under the guidance of your teachers. You might like to use your Vaporetto Pass to visit Murano and Burano islands.

DAY 12: VENICE – MILAN (BD)

Check out of your accommodation, make your way to the Venice Tronchetto and meet your coach to travel to your Milan accommodation. Spend the remainder of the day exploring this bustling, fashionable, business capital under the guidance of your teachers. You might like to see the famous Cenacolo Vinciano in the Santa Maria delle Grazie church.

DAYS 13-14: MILAN – AUSTRALIA (B)

Check out of your accommodation and board your private coach to transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Language lessons are available in Siena, Rome, Florence and Prato.

Gladiator Tour - Rome
Don’t miss this opportunity to re-create Roman history and get a hands-on look at life as a gladiator. Activities include dressing up and learning basic techniques of gladiatorial sword fighting, and a museum visit.

Sorrento–Capri–Pompeii (3 Days/2 Nights)
From Capri’s scenic coastline, to the Roman town of Pompeii, destroyed by Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79, Italy has many mesmerising sights. Includes bustling Naples, the stunning Italian coast at Sorrento, a guided tour of Pompeii, two nights accommodation and a private touring coach.

Cooking Lessons
In either Rome, Florence or Siena, enjoy a lesson cooking traditional Italian fare from pizza to spaghetti.
