The Concept

Experience the richness of Indonesian culture, language and family life up close in this 9-day tour run in conjunction with the world-renowned Indonesia Australia Language Foundation. This tour features 5 nights of home-stay in Denpasar where students are immersed in Indonesian every-day life. Additional language lessons are supplemented by a series of fascinating workshops including Batik making and rice farming activities in a village. The tour also includes excursions such as the Bali Safari Park.

This tour is designed for senior Indonesian language students. Students will improve language skills through immersion and gain an insight into Indonesian culture and family life. Students will also gain confidence.

Itinerary Day By Day

Day 1 Australia – Denpasar (D)

Depart from Australia to Denpasar. On arrival you will be met by your guide and assisted to your waiting coach for transfer to the Indonesia Australia Language Foundation. IALF is the leading language training organisation in Indonesia. Established by the governments of Indonesia and Australia, the IALF is a non-profit organisation committed to providing high quality education and training services throughout Indonesia and the Asia Pacific region.

On arrival at IALF you will be met by your program co-ordinator and begin with a tour of the facility, an introduction to key IALF staff will follow along with a briefing that will outline your program.

On completion you will be introduced to your IALF sanctioned host families and will transfer to their homes. (We will seek to place 2 Australian students per 1 Indonesian host. Breakfast and dinner for each day of your hosted period will be provided)

Staff to stay at nearby guest house in Denpasar.

Day 2 IALF (BD, students) (B, staff only)

Australian staff make own way to IALF. Australian students delivered to IALF by host families.
Enjoy your first 3 hour language lesson
Guided tour of Kuta or Denpasar Markets (practise bargaining skills, etc.)
Return to IALF AUS students meet host families and travel home

Day 3 IALF (BD, students) (B, staff only)

Australian staff make own way to IALF. Australian students delivered to IALF by host families Enjoy your second 3 hour language lesson
Enjoy a Batik Making Workshop following by a cooking Workshop
Meet host families and travel home

Day 4 JATILUWIH Tour (BLD, students) (BL, staff)

All participants meet at IALF and assemble for full day tour.
Depart for full day tour to visit a village in Jatiluwih area to learn the daily activities of the locals, participate in traditional rice farming activities (planting, seedling, ploughing, etc.,) and do a trek to a waterfall (moderate level of fitness required) Lunch included
Arrive back to IALF and meet with host families

Day 5 IALF (BD)

Enjoy half day school visit to a local Balinese school. G.E.T. does suggest you prepare some Gifts / donations of practical school items for this visit.
Return to IALF and attend your third 3 hour language lesson
Meet host families and travel home

Day 6 IALF – UBUD (BD)

Travel with your host family to IALF. Say goodbye and meet with your coach and guide for travel to Ubud.
Visit the Bali Safari and Marine Park (entrance included).
Make your way to Goa Gajah the Elephant cave (entrance included). Continue on to Ubud and check into your accommodation for 2 nights.

Day 7 UBUD Cycling tour (BLD)

Breakfast at your accommodation followed by a downhill cycling trip through the villages of Ubud. Students will be able to meet and interact with the locals and have a traditional Balinese lunch at one of the villages.
Free time this afternoon under the direction of staff

Day 8 UBUD – DENPASAR - AUSTRALIA (BD)

Breakfast at hotel. Morning at leisure under direction of staff. After lunch transfer to Kuta area for last-minute shopping. Dinner included at a local restaurant.
Transfer to the airport for your overnight flight. Depart Denpasar on your international flight to Australia.

Day 9 ARRIVE AUSTRALIA

Arrive in Australia (subject to airline schedules)
