The Concept

This tour provides a remarkable insight into the people of Bali, their beliefs, traditions and lifestyle as well as providing language opportunities both in formal classes and informal interactions with local people.

Immerse yourself in friendly and artistic Hindu culture and practice language skills while surrounded by stunning tropical beauty in this 9-day tour to Bali. Students will be involved in a series of workshops aimed at introducing them to Balinese culture, traditions and beliefs, with cooking lessons in Ubud, music and dance workshops, language lessons and a visit to a Balinese school. The tour also visits the sacred springs of Tampak Siring, and beautiful Kintamani. During the tour students will have free time to explore, meet and chat with locals and experience local food, culture and shopping.

This tour is aimed at primary and secondary school Indonesian language students. Students will improve their Bahasa Indonesia language skills and gain insight into Balinese culture.

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1 AUSTRALIA – DENPASAR – MAS (D)

Depart Australia on your flight to Denpasar. On arrival in Bali, you will transfer to Taman Harum Cottages, in Mas. Dinner will be provided this evening.

DAY 2 COOKING LESSON (B,L,D)

This morning travel into Ubud to visit the market to buy food for your cooking lesson this afternoon. In the afternoon enjoy a lesson in Balinese cooking which will include explanations of the ingredients and techniques used. Travel to and from the market at own expense.

DAYS 3-4 CULTURAL ACTIVITIES (B, L, D)

Over these 2 days activities will include a village walk through the surrounding rice fields and back lanes to learn the daily routine of village life. Learn to play some of the unique Indonesian musical instruments; participate in a temple offering workshop and a workshop in the movement of traditional Balinese dance.

DAY 5 MAS – KINTAMANI – SANUR (B, L, D)

Today an excursion to Kintamani has been organised. Travel is via the sacred springs of Tampaksiring before arriving at Kintamani with its fantastic view of the Batur volcanic basin. Travel on to Sanur for accommodation at the Bumi Ayu Bungalows (or similar) for 3 nights.

DAY 6 SANUR (B)

After breakfast you will be transferred to IALF language school to participate in your first 2-hour Indonesian language lesson. You will have the remainder of the day free. Lunch and dinner at your own expense.

DAY 7 SANUR (B)

After breakfast, this morning you will visit the IALF Language School for cultural interaction with Indonesian students. This afternoon, enjoy your second Indonesian language lesson. In the evening, watch a performance of the Kecak dance. Lunch and dinner at your own expense.

DAY 8 SANUR – AUSTRALIA (B)

There will be time for any last minute shopping or sightseeing before your transfer to the airport for your flight home. Late check out at accommodation of all rooms until 6.00pm.

DAY 9 AUSTRALIA

Morning arrival in Australia (subject to flight schedules).
