The Concept

Our Melbourne Visual and Performing Arts tour provides students with an opportunity to grow in confidence while participating in a range of workshops designed to further their knowledge of themselves and their art. Students will also develop knowledge and understanding of Australian Art making use of the relevant disciplines, experiences and understandings gained throughout this program.

This 4-day Itinerary is tailor-made to suit all ages, standards and group sizes. Simply select your preferences and create your own student experience:

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1 MELBOURNE (D)

On arrival, you will be transferred by your coach to your accommodation in the city.

Chose you activities from the following options:
-National Gallery of Victoria to view their most significant collection of art, including the current NGV exhibition.
-Ian Potter Centre - housed here are Australian artworks, both indigenous and non-indigenous from the colonial period to present day (there may be an additional cost for travelling exhibitions). (gallery closed Mondays)
-Arts Centre Melbourne - where you will explore the labyrinth beneath the famous spire and uncover the fascinating history of the arts precinct. Students are invited to take a look inside Australia’s largest performing arts centre and the home of world-class music, dance, theatre and opera companies (workshops are also available)

Dinner is provided at the hotel.
Evening performance at a theatre in Melbourne (matinee performances also available)

DAY 2 MELBOURNE (B,D)

After breakfast your coach will take you to:

-Heide Museum of Modern Art - After spending some time viewing the latest exhibition, students will take part in a ‘Making Art’ workshop
-Australian Centre for Contemporary Art to witness their current exhibition and participate in the TALK THINK MAKE education program
-NIDA workshop
-Circus Oz

Dinner is provided at the hotel.

DAY 3 MELBOURNE (B,D)

After breakfast, your coach will take you to:
-ArtVo (Self-Guided Visit) Your visit begins with an introduction explaining the concept of the artworks and how the photos are taken. Once in the gallery students can go through at their own pace with ArtVo staff available to assist. Students will need to bring their own smartphones/cameras to take the photos.
-The Windsor Workshop: Enjoy a 2-hour workshop led by a local craft artist.
-The Blender Studios: Stencil Workshop- The Stencil Workshop has been specially designed by street artists to give an introduction to these mediums under the guidance of a renowned stencil artist. Students will create their own re-usable stencil and artwork on a canvas, both of which is theirs to keep.

The remainder of the day is for you to explore Melbourne, before returning to your accommodation for dinner.

DAY 4 MELBOURNE (D)

After breakfast this morning, your guide will meet you at your hotel and escort you on your Walk to Art tour of Melbourne. Designed to encourage artistic development through discovery and exploration, Walk to Art allows students to understand art not through the commercial large gallery-style art displays, but through access to street art, public art, artist-run spaces and small galleries. Teachers and students absolutely love this view of Melbourne.
Enjoy some free time before returning home this afternoon.
