DAY 1 AUSTRALIA - FRANKFURT

Check in at the airport for your flight from Australia to Frankfurt.

DAY 2 FRANKFURT – NUREMBERG (D)

On arrival in Frankfurt, you will be transferred by coach to Nuremberg to check in to your accommodation. The remainder of the afternoon will be spent at your teachers’ discretion. Dinner will be at your hostel.

DAY 3 NUREMBERG (B, D)

After breakfast at your hostel, you will be issued with a 1 Day public transport ticket for travel today. You will take a guided tour of the Nazi Rally Grounds and the Documentation Centre (entrance included). Visit the Court Rooms of the Nuremberg Trials – subject to availability. Dinner is at your hostel this evening.
Option: Guided walking tour of the old town of Nuremberg.

DAY 4 NUREMBERG – MUNICH (B, D)

Check out of your hostel after breakfast. Travel to Munich by regional train (Bayerntickets for public transport are included). On arrival, check in to your accommodation, then enjoy a guided walking tour of Munich. Dinner this evening will be at Bavarian Restaurant.

DAY 5 MUNICH (B, D)

After breakfast at your hostel, you will have a private coach for a full day of touring. Travel to Berchtesgaden and visit the Documentation Obersalzberg (exhibition reflecting on the National Socialist past). Also visit the Kehlsteinhaus, subject to availability (available May – October). Return to Munich by coach in time for dinner at your hostel.
Option: Entrance and guided tour of the Saltmines.

DAY 6 MUNICH – DACHAU - BRUSSELS (B, D)

Check out of your accommodation after breakfast, take your luggage and board your coach to Dachau for your visit to the Memorial (audio-guides included), the site of the first German concentration camp. It confined more than 206,000 political opponents, Jews, clergymen and so-called “undesirable elements”, imprisoned by the National Socialist regime between 1933 and 1945. After the visit board your coach to the airport for your flight to Brussels. On arrival meet your coach for your transfer to your accommodation. Dinner included

DAY 7 BRUSSELS– YPRES (D)

After breakfast, check out and leave your luggage at the hotel. Enjoy a walking guided tour of Brussels. After the tour make your way to the hotel and board your private coach to Ypres in Belgium. Check in to your accommodation. Early dinner at your hotel, then visit Menin Gate for the daily playing of the Last Post.

DAY 8 YPRES – AMIENS AREA (B, D)

Check out of your hotel after breakfast. Enjoy a half day guided visit to the Belgian Battlefields and the In Flanders Fields Museum (entrance included). Depart Ypres and travel south to the Somme. Stop en route in Fromelles, the location of the first major battle fought by Australian troops on the Western Front. Proceed to the Amiens area and check in to your accommodation. Dinner at your hotel.

DAY 9 AMIENS AREA (B, D)

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide for a full day guided tour of the Somme Battlefields including: Lochnagar Crater in La Boiselle, the history of the Great War in Péronne (entrance included), Thiepval and Pozieres Tank Memorial. Return to your accommodation in time for dinner.

DAY 10 AMIENS – PARIS (B, D)

Check out of your hotel after breakfast. Travel to Villers-Bretonneux and visit the Australian Memorial and the Franco-Australian Museum (entrance included). Continue to Paris (optional stop in Compiegne to visit the Wagon de l’Armistice). On arrival in Paris, check in to your accommodation. Dinner will be at your hostel. A 2 Day Paris Visite card zones 1-2 will be provided.

DAY 11 PARIS (B, D)

Breakfast at your hostel. Use your public transport card to explore Paris.
Enjoy a half day guided walking tour of “Occupied Paris” followed by a 1 hour boat cruise on the Seine river. The afternoon will be free, at your teachers’ discretion. Dinner at your hostel this evening.

DAY 12 PARIS – AUSTRALIA (B)

After breakfast at your accommodation, transfer to the airport for your return flight to Australia.

DAY 13 AUSTRALIA (B)

Arrive Australia (subject to airline schedules).

Optional extra nights (at additional cost)

1 additional night in Munich with breakfast & dinner, full day excursion by public transport to Hohenschwangau, entrance and guided tour of Neuschwanstein Castle

1 additional night in Paris with breakfast & dinner, 1 Day Paris Visite card zones 1-5, entrance to Disneyland
