The ultimate in Content and Language Integrated Learning programs and a long-time school favourite is the overland trek from Java to Bali. This tour encompasses the very best of Indonesian language and culture and provides a unique insight into the contrasting islands and people of Java and Bali.
Once the seat of the Javanese Empire, the stunning and densely populated Java Island is a fascinating destination combining thriving modern cities with ancient culture and ruins. The Island of Bali, just off the coast of Java, is a contrast in people and landscape. This 11-day overland trek offers a wonderful comparison between these two rich and diverse lands. The tour begins in Jakarta, students then travel south visiting iconic sites until a short plane trip lands them in Bali for the final leg of the tour. Highlights include the world-famous Bogor Botanical Gardens, a Parahyangan cultural performance, the Sultan’s Palace in Yogyakarta and the Borobudur Temple Complex, built in the 8th century. There are also many opportunities for students to undertake cultural activities, meet locals and practise their language skills.
Secondary school Indonesian language students will improve language skills and increase their understanding of and respect for other cultures. This tour will also improve team bonding.
