- New Caledonia is a French territory located in the South Pacific with the main language spoken being French.
- It is bigger than Hawaii in land size.
- You can visit mountains, rainforests, coral reefs and beautiful beaches on the four archipelagos that make up New Caledonia.
- The island of Lifou is a key producer of Madagascan vanilla, Mare produces avocados and Ouvea produces coconut oil.
- 42% of the population of New Caledonia is made up of the Kanak people who live in tribes and are led by a chief.
- 10% of the world's nickel reserves are in New Caledonia.
- The world's largest lagoon surrounds New Caledonia where you can find a variety of turtles (green, hawksbill, loggerhead and leatherback), tropical birds, rare crabs and humpback whales.
- Popular activities for visitors include scuba diving, whale watching and sailing.
- There are only two seasons in New Caledonia: rainy season (December to March, July to August) and the dry season (September to November).
