The Concept

Majestic Hawaii offers a fascinating mix of stunning natural wonders, modern war history and hands-on science. Highlights of this unique 10-day tour include hiking in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park which contains two of the world’s most active volcanoes, a visit to the Imiloa Astronomy Centre and visit to the Friends of NELHA Natural Energy Laboratory.

This tour is aimed at secondary school science, history and geography students. Students will witness some of the most unique geology and ecology in the world, astronomy, culture and science.

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1 AUSTRALIA – HAWAII (D)

Fly to Kona.
On arrival, you will be met and transferred by coach to your hotel.
Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 2 KONA (B)

Today is free to explore the island under teacher’s guidance.

Suggestions:
- Travel on coach to visit Kailua-Kona where you can enjoy a Reef Tour (a glass bottom boat), commented by a knowledgeable marine naturalist.
- Travel on coach to visit Lions Gate Farms where coffee and macadamia nuts grow.

DAY 3 KONA (B,D)

Meet your coach and guide at the hotel.
Visit the Imiloa Astronomy and Culture Education Centre and Volcano National Park.
Picnic dinner tonight at Halema’uma’u crater.
Transfer back to the hotel.

Suggestions:
Lava Boat Tour (if conditions and schedule permit).

DAY 4 KONA – OAHU (B, D)

This morning on the way to the airport visit the NELHA (Natural Energy Laboratory Hawaii Authority) Research Centre. Here, students will learn about responsible and sustainable use of renewable resources for energy, aquaculture, and ocean technology.
Transfer to the airport for flight to Oahu. On arrival, you will be met and transferred by coach to your hotel.
Dinner tonight at a local restaurant.

DAY 5 OAHU (B)

Meet your coach at the hotel.
Visit Pearl Harbour , USS Arizona Memorial ,USS Missouri and Pacific Aviation Museum .
Transfer back to the hotel.

DAY 6 OAHU (B)

After breakfast, head out to Kualoa Ranch by private coach for a full day outdoor education program. The students will take part in an outdoor environmental lab, conducting biological and physical surveys of the environment and collecting data in order to make conclusions about the importance of conservation and environmental research.

DAY 7 OAHU (B, D)

Enjoy a leisure morning as you discover Waikiki.

Suggestions:
Visit Dole Plantations, where you can enjoy a pineapple cutting demonstration. For more active pineapple adventure navigate through Pineapple Garden Maze, ride on the Pineapple Express Train Tour or explore the Plantation Garden Tour.

In the evening, meet your coach at the hotel.
Visit the Polynesian Cultural Centre for a traditional Hawaiian Luau dinner followed by a cultural show.
Transfer back to the hotel (approx. 10pm).

DAY 8 OAHU – AUSTRALIA (B)

Meet your coach for transfer to the airport.
Fly back to Australia.

DAYS 9-10 ARRIVE AUSTRALIA
