The Concept

Be awed by stunning mountains and unbeatable scenery as you embark on the geography tour of a lifetime! Discover extensive ice age glaciers and marvel at towering fiords as you journey through four magnificent World Heritage Sites.

Students will learn about the different aspects that influence New Zealand's unique geography. Some of the influencing factors include the natural environment, global warming and the effects of human interference on tourism. Students will also learn about he history of New Zealand's indigenous Maori people and their history and traditions. This educational tour combines experiential learning with sightseeing and fun activities.

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1 SCHOOL - CHRISTCHURCH (D)

Arrive in Christchurch and meet your guide. Transfer to the city and enjoy an orientation tour.

DAY 2 CHRISTCHURCH (B,D)

Today you will see first hand effect of the 2011 earthquakes and explore how Christchurch is gradually rebuilding and reinventing itself on the Red Bus Tour. Later today, you will be immersed in a Ko Tane Maori cultural experience and learn about New Zealand's history.

DAY 3 CHRISTCHURCH - LAKE TEKAPO - MOUNT COOK (B,D)

Today you will travel to Mount Cook, taking in incredible scenery along the way. Stop to marvel at Lake Tekapo and enjoy a relaxing soak at Tekapo Hot Springs. This evening an exciting stargazing experience awaits!

DAY 4 SIR EDMUND HILLARY ALPINE CENTRE (B,D)

Today you will have an educational visit to the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre, followed by a fascinating glacial encounter during an expert-led guided walk to the Tasman Glacier.

DAY 5 MOUNT COOK - QUEENSTOWN (B,D)

This morning you will travel to Queenstown, through truly incredible landscapes. In the evening you will experience the Skyline Gondola, Luge and Buffet Dinner where you can enjoy panoramic views over the town.

DAY 6 QUEENSTOWN - WANAKA (B,D)

Explore the adventure capital of New Zealand, Queenstown, this morning and choose from a huge range of activities, including jet boating, white water rafting and horse riding. In the afternoon, you will travel to Wanaka where you can enjoy spectacular views of the lake.

DAY 7 WANAKA - FOX GLACIER - FRANZ JOSEF (B,D)

Depart Wanaka and travel to the West Coast, known as glacier country. Here you will stop at Glacier Fox to participate in a fox Glacier Valley Tour before heading to Franz Josef for the evening.

DAY 8 FRANZ JOSEF GLACIER (B,D)

Today you will explore the Franz Josef Glacier region with your knowledgeable guide and learn about this unique part of New Zealand.

DAY 9 FRANZ JOSEF - PUNAKAIKI (B,D)

Travel to Punakaiki and see the incredible Pancake Rocks and Blowholes, created by the environment of the tugged coastline over time. Later today, you will have an authentic carving experience.

DAY 10 PUNAKAIKI - CHRISTCHURCH (B,D)

Return to Christchurch through the highest and most spectacular mountain pass across the Alps- Arthur's Pass.

DAY 11 CHRISTCHURCH - SCHOOL (B)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Australia.
