Lift Australia’s WWI history out of books and bring it to dramatic life with this tour of the leading battle sites of the ANZACs. This 15-day tour begins in London, with a visit to the moving Imperial War Museum. From here students travel to the Flanders area in Belgium, where the last post is played every dusk at the Menin Gate. The tour then moves onto Fromelles and the Somme in France. From Paris students fly to Istanbul, then onto the most infamous battle site of all, Gallipoli.
Secondary school history students will experience WWI and ancient history. They will have the opportunity to compare Christian and Islamic culture, and understand the geographic and cultural circumstances war was fought in, including logistical challenges. Students will be able to understand and compare resulting battle strategies of different sites. Schools can consider allowing parents and siblings to join the tour.
