The Concept

The highlight of this 9-day tour features a stay at Space Camp, where students spend time living as an astronaut. Students participate in hands-on workshops featuring science, engineering, aviation and space exploration as they are exposed to the world of astronaut simulators and outdoor programs. They will also visit the shuttle from Mission 26 at the California Science Museum and the archaeological site in Los Angeles.

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1 AUSTRALIA – HUNTSVILLE (SUNDAY) (D)

Check in for your flight to Huntsville, Alabama. Fly to Dallas Fort Worth to connect with your flight to Huntsville. On arrival meet a Space Camp representative and transfer by coach to Space Camp, register for your weeklong experience. Accommodation will be in dormitory style rooms purpose designed for school groups. Teachers will be at a hotel walking distance from Space Camp. Dinner included.

DAYS 2 – 5 HUNTSVILLE (B,L,D)

Spend the week living the life of an astronaut! The Space Camp program is specifically designed for students and tailored to suit all year levels and curriculums. Students will experience real-life Astronaut training and spend time rotating through the Orbiter, Space Station and Mission Control simulators. Design and test a virtual Mars Rover utilising computer and engineering skills. Experience the weightlessness of gravity through underwater scuba diving (age restrictions apply) and flight simulators.

DAY 6 HUNTSVILLE – LOS ANGELES (B,D)

After breakfast, participate in the Advanced Space Academy Astronaut Graduation Ceremony. Transfer by coach to the airport and check in for your flight to Los Angeles, California. On arrival, transfer by coach to your hotel. Dinner included.

DAY 7 LOS ANGELES (B,D)

After breakfast transfer to The California Science Center which offers fun and informative exhibits presented in interactive worlds. Through hands-on experiences in the galleries, learn about human inventions and innovations, the life processes of living things and more. The Science Center also features special rotating exhibitions. Visit includes the Endeavor Space Shuttle from Mission 26. In the afternoon undertake a fun guided tour of Hollywood to see famous sites of Hollywood movie stars including Hollywood Boulevard, Walk of Fame and much more. Dinner included.

DAY 8 LOS ANGELES (B,D)

After breakfast, today is a free day at your teachers’ discretion. You may choose to visit either Universal Studios or Disneyworld (entrance fees and transport not included). Dinner included.

DAY 9 LOS ANGELES– AUSTRALIA (B)

After breakfast transfer to La Brea Tar Pits, the world’s most famous Ice Age fossil excavation site located in the heart of Los Angeles. An active dig site attracting visitors from around the world. Here you can witness discoveries made daily in this archaeological site, undertake an excavator tour, watch a short film at their IMAX and see Palaeontology in action at The Fossil Lab. After your visit, walk to the Farmers Market for lunch (own arrangement). After lunch meet your coach and travel to Griffith Observatory, where each room focuses on different astronomical exhibitions. From here you can see the Hollywood sign. Time permitting visit one of Los Angeles famous beach areas like Venice Beach or Santa Monica for some fun and shopping. In the evening transfer to the airport for your flight home.
