The Concept

G.E.T Educational Tours recognises that twenty-first century learners wish to engage actively with the world around them and use a wide range of technology as well as a variety of different approaches to their learning.

Teachers and parents want students to enjoy a trip which will widen their understanding of themselves, broaden their thinking skills and allow them to reflect about their own and other cultures while improving their language skills.

This itinerary has been designed to use in conjunction with our NEW language worksheets. They are designed in line with current curriculum guidelines, and teachers can select from a range of topics and materials suited to their own groups and language standards.

Below is our suggested itinerary, however please note that activities may change day by day according to flight schedules and availability of certain activities during peak periods.

Itinerary Day By Day

On arrival at Tontouta Airport you will transfer by coach to your hotel accommodation on the idyllic Anse Vata beachfront.

DAY 2 (B)

After a full buffet breakfast at the hotel, you will commence your first student worksheet activity, selected by your teacher- Le Marche
Morning - Catch the local bus to the Noumea market (Le Marche). Obtain audio and visual content for your digital diary.
Afternoon- Allocated leisure time to complete your morning worksheet, at your teacher’s discretion.

DAY 3 (B, D)

After breakfast at the hotel, you will participate in your next worksheet activity- Le Supermarket
Morning- Visit Noumea’s largest supermarket, Geant, by local bus. Your next worksheet here will require the use of thinking skills, rather than just recording words. It is also a great location for including some digital media content – film each other ordering your lunch in French, or comparing products to what you are used to seeing in the supermarkets at home!
Afternoon – self guided walking tour of Noumea, with maps in French provided.
Dinner tonight is hosted by your hotel.

DAY 4 (B)

After breakfast at the hotel, you will commence your next worksheet activity – Tjibaou Cultural Centre
Morning-. Catch the local bus to visit the Tjibaou Centre for a 2 hour guided tour (small additional cost approx. AUD 5) and either work in teams or individually to complete your worksheets.
Afternoon – allocated leisure time to complete your morning worksheets, at your teachers discretion.

DAY 5 (B)

After breakfast, today is a free day to explore Noumea and interact with the locals through placing students in authentic situations where they can practise their language skills.
Catch the bus out to Geant again, and stock up on baguettes and cheese for lunch.
*Alternatively, take the Mary D out to Amedee Island and spend the day completing your Amedee worksheet, and enjoying this beautiful island (additional costs).

DAY 6 (B, D)

A French style buffet breakfast is always a great way to start the day. Today’s activity is Environment and Conservation.
Morning – Le Parc Forestier is a short trip by local bus from your hotel. The park is the site of the local World Wildlife Fund sub-branch headquarters and is now involved heavily in research and in the reintroduction of native species to their original habitat. There are two worksheets to complete here – one on Le Parc Forrestier, the other on New Caledonia’s national icon, the Cagou.
Afternoon- allocated leisure time to complete your morning worksheets, at your teachers discretion.
Dinner tonight is hosted by your hotel.

DAY 7 (B)

After breakfast, catch the bus to visit Noumea’s WW2 Museum.
Morning – Take the local bus to the WW2 Museum in Centre Ville, and participate in your worksheet activity. Learn of the important role New Caledonia played in the Second World War.

Afternoon- spend the morning reviewing your workbooks, digital diaries and workbooks as a group and consolidate your learnings. Many schools use this opportunity to complete their digital workbook by taking pictures of signs (and interpreting), recording each other ordering meals or buying souvenirs, etc.

Any remaining time can be spent enjoying the national game of Petanque, on the designated gravel Petanque fields across the road from your hotel, on the Anse Vata beachfront.

DAY 8 (B)

It is time to say goodbye to New Caledonia and transfer by coach to Tontouta Airport for your flight home to Australia.
