The Concept

From the teaming modern metropolis of Tokyo to the extraordinary calm gardens of Shinto and Buddhist temples, Japan is a country of fascinating dichotomies. This 9-day tour introduces students to Japanese language and culture by visiting some of her most well-known and iconic sites.

After 2 nights in Tokyo including a side-trip to Disneyland, students travel by bullet train to gorgeous Kyoto, Japan’s ancient capital. The tour then continues to Hiroshima where students visit a number of sites including the Peace Memorial Park. Students also have time to explore, try out their language and sample Japan’s unique food, arts and amazing shopping.

Primary and secondary Japanese language students will improve their language skills and gain a greater understanding of Japanese culture. Students will also gain self-confidence and improve team bonding.

Itinerary Day By Day

Fly from Australia for an early evening arrival at Narita. On arrival, you will be met and escorted to the station. Travel to central Tokyo on the Narita Express for your two nights’ accommodation in Japan’s largest city.
Accommodation for the next 2 nights is at our preferred Tokyo hotel, hostel or Ryokan.
*depending on your arrival time, you may prefer to stay at the Narita Airport Hotel.

After breakfast, travel by train to Disneyland and spend a fun day experiencing the rides and attractions. Return, exhausted but excited, to your hotel that evening.

This morning is free for your own sightseeing in Tokyo before boarding the Shinkansen for an afternoon departure to Kyoto. Suggestions include the Ghibli museum, Sumo morning practice or visit the Geishas. Travel on the Shinkansen is a wonderful experience, and Japan train stations are an ideal location for integrated learning, and practicing language skills.

On arrival into Kyoto, it is a short 5 minute walk to your hotel. Check in and enjoy some free time this evening to explore Kyoto city at night, as there are many interesting places to see and things to do within the close proximity of the hotel.
Accommodation for the next 3 nights is at our preferred Kyoto hotel, hostel or Ryokan.

Explore the city of Kyoto with its many cultural and historical sites. We offer a number of activities you can select from, including fan painting, activities at the Kyoto Handicrafts Centre, and sushi making to name a few. Schools may also prefer to visit Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, rather than visit Disneyland in Tokyo (full day activities).
You hotel is well located, close to the major department stores which offer a great opportunity for souvenir shopping.

After breakfast, continue with your cultural tour by visiting Nijo Castle, Golden Pavilion, and Kyoto Imperial Palace. Guided tours are available on request. Many schools also like to visit Nara, site of the famous Kofuku-ji and Todai-ji Temples if there is time permitting.

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and head to Kyoto station to board the Shinkansen for Hiroshima. On arrival, it is an easy 10 minute walk to your hotel where you will check in, then head off to visit the Peace Memorial park and the A-Bomb Dome. It is a comfortable 30 minute walk from your hotel.
Accommodation for the next 2 nights is at our preferred Hiroshima hotel, hostel or Ryokan.

After breakfast, explore Hiroshima further with a visit to Miyajima Island. On your return, we can also arrange a cooking lesson – Okonomiyaki is the local specialty of Hiroshima, and is delicious!
