The Concept

Majestic Hawaii offers a fascinating mix of stunning natural wonders, modern war history and hands-on science. Highlights of this unique 10-day tour include hiking in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park which contains two of the world’s most active volcanoes, a visit to the Imiloa Astronomy Centre and visit to the Friends of NELHA Natural Energy Laboratory.

This tour is aimed at secondary school science, history and geography students. Students will witness some of the most unique geology and ecology in the world, astronomy, culture and science.

Itinerary Day By Day

DAY 1 AUSTRALIA – HAWAII (D)

Check in for your flight to Hawaii Island via Honolulu. On arrival at Kona airport on Hawaii Island transfer by coach to your accommodation in Kona. Dinner is at Bubba Gump’s this evening.

DAY 2 KONA (B)

Today is allocated as leisure at your teacher’s discretion. There are many things to see and do around the Kona area, all within walking distance from your hotel.

DAY 3 KONA (B, L, D)

Travel by private coach to Imiloa Astronomy and Culture Education Centre- highlights include the Planetarium 3D presentation’ Dawn of the Space Age, the Hawaii Forest Walk and Volcano National Park (featuring short hikes to experience volcanic features such as steam bluffs, sulphur vents and lava tubes). We also recommend a picnic dinner at Halema’uma’u crater while you witness the crater’s evening glow. Return by private coach to your accommodation at 9pm.

DAY 4 KONA – OAHU (B, D)

This morning visit the Friends of NELHA (Natural Energy Laboratory Hawaii Authority) Research Centre. Here, students will learn about responsible and sustainable use of renewable resources for energy, aquaculture, and ocean technology. This afternoon fly to Honolulu and transfer by private coach to Waikiki. Dinner tonight is at Atlantis Steak n Seafood.

DAY 5 HONOLULU (B)

After breakfast at your hotel, travel by private coach to Pearl Harbour. Highlights include boarding the USS Arizona Memorial, and the USS Missouri. Enjoy a 2 hour educational field trip inside the Pacific Aviation Museum. Return to Waikiki for some leisure time later this afternoon at your teacher's discretion.

DAY 6 HONOLULU (B, L)

After breakfast, head out to Kualoa Ranch by private coach to participate in their 1 day outdoor education program. The students will take part in an outdoor environmental lab, conducting biological and physical surveys of the environment and collecting data in order to make conclusions about the importance of conservation and environmental research.

DAY 7 HONOLULU (B, D)

Enjoy a leisure day today as you discover Waikiki. This evening, travel by coach to the Polynesian cultural centre to enjoy a traditional Hawaiian Luau dinner followed by a cultural show.

DAY 8 HONOLULU – AUSTRALIA (B)

This morning following breakfast, check out of your hotel. Spend the remainder of the day completing last minute sightseeing in the Waikiki area before transferring to the airport. Check in for your flight to Australia.

DAYS 9-10 ARRIVE AUSTRALIA
